Pictorial Ceramic Art
The ceramic coated slab, on which the work is performed, is always of porous material (for example: lava stone or clay), able to absorb the glaze, which would determine the effect "glazed". The technique of "painting on ceramics" is a special technique. In fact, the drawing up of colors, freehand only with the help of brushes, occurs on the surface of the plate previously dipped into the glaze, which when dried forms a thin film coating of enamel powder. On the surface of enamel powder that the brushstrokes are combined and overlap with skill, using colors that at the time of writing "raw" have shades and colors that will change completely at the end of the cooking process, reaching temperatures of approximately 930° C. This requires a great capacity of choice and combination of colors for ceramics at the time of the creation of each piece. "Mix raw" colors for ceramics, stroke by stroke, it is very difficult to achieve the desired effect, it is necessary at least twenty years of experience to be able to have a good implementation that takes into account the evolution and mutation of colors during the creation of the work. This is the aspect that most differentiates the ceramic painting from the other "traditional" technique (oil on canvas, watercolor, etc.), where "visions of colors" are immediately well understood with compared to the final. All the works made with the "technique of painting on ceramics" just for their own natural chromatic evolution, are unique. The work was painted entirely by four hands, by the artists: Floridia Salvatore and Gulizia Nicola, in fact it shows the double signature.
